Military and Veteran Student Services

Mission: Our role is to support military members, veterans, and their families at UNI as they transition between military duty, college, and new careers. We are committed to faculty and staff education, on and off campus resource networking, advocacy, and listening to each student to ensure that each military affiliated students' voice is heard and they are empowered to achieve success in class and beyond.

Boots to Books

A Scholarship Program for Veteran Students at the University of Northern Iowa

Boots to Books is a program designed to help veterans transition to civilian life and the college environment.

Although many military and veteran students are eligible for G.I. benefits, more than half of them are still in need of financial assistance. In an effort to support the educational endeavors of our military and veteran students, the Boots to Books scholarship fund was created because:

  • Not all veteran students are eligible for education benefits
  • Government funding is not available for graduate degrees
  • Government tuition covers tuition, not fees
  • Many non-tradition veteran students are attending college while supporting families and are experiencing financial education costs not covered by federal government programs

Your donation to the Boots to Books scholarship program helps our military veteran students - and their families - as they transition to civilian life and the college environment.
