Military and Veteran Student Services

Mission: Our role is to support military members, veterans, and their families at UNI as they transition between military duty, college, and new careers. We are committed to faculty and staff education, on and off campus resource networking, advocacy, and listening to each student to ensure that each military affiliated students' voice is heard and they are empowered to achieve success in class and beyond.

AMVETS Student Membership for Veteran Students

AMVETS knows the sacrifices of service and is offering a free AMVETS membership for veterans currently enrolled in school.

AMVETS (American Veterans) is a congressionally chartered national organization dedicated to helping veterans reintegrate into the American workforce. This organization began as a group of loosely tied college veterans clubs. Since they understand the struggles veterans and the paths they all travel, they are prepared to help.  This offer allows honorably discharged and actively serving military personnel to become members. Membership is available to all the services: Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines Corps, and members of the National Guard, Reserve and Coast Guard. AMVETS is standing ready to help veterans any way they can. The GI Bill and the VA home loan program are key initiatives they supported until they became law. Today they are spearheading the initiative to make veterans a protected class to eliminate discriminatory hiring and housing practices.
